Mention the word mobiles and the first associations are usually Alexander Calder and "balance." I was so inspired by Calder's work that I became immersed in creating whimsical, randomly moving sculptures myself. That influence has continued to drive my creative occupation ever since. When I began, balance – in the mechanical sense – consumed much of my time. This is the balance people tend to think about first in regard to mobiles. Yet there is another type of balance, the achievement of which is often much more difficult. I'm referring to an artistic balance where motion becomes another dimension to be added to color, form, proportion, and composition; where this constantly changing sculpture remains visually balanced.

Working with aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, I am creating sculptures that can be placed indoors or out. However, since most of these individual and unique pieces seldom exceed 10 feet in diameter, and in order to fully experience the interrelationship of colors, I believe the sculptures are really best suited for indoor spaces. I also feel that a mobile lends itself to being site specific. In other words, for maximum effect. a mobile's overall size and color palette should be in harmony with its surroundings.

I strongly encourage dialogue with my clients. The pictures on my site are a sample of my varied works, so please contact me and I can send you photos and prices of mobiles that are currently available for purchase, or we can use any of the photos as a starting point for developing your own unique creation.
